The new standard in traffic signals in Michigan is a big change from our present system, and the Michigan Department of Transportation has been working for a couple of years on educating us before we see these new signals on a regular basis.
Right now, if we are in the left turn lane with a signal dedicated to left turns, a flashing red light means we can turn left when it's safe. The new signal has four lamps, all with a left arrows: red means you can't turn, a solid left arrow means the light is about to turn red, a flashing yellow arrow means oncoming traffic won't stop, but you can turn when it's safe, and a green arrow means oncoming traffic must stop and you can turn left.
In other words, the flashing yellow arrow replaces the flashing red light we normally see on left turn traffic signals.
The video provides a visual representation.

Today, the average price of gas in Michigan $2.88, around 27 cents a gallon higher than a year ago and over 3 cents a gallon higher than a week ago.
Many drivers in West Michigan might say that prices actually have dropped in the past couple of weeks since peaking at $2.955 on the day I took this picture at Leonard Street and Fuller Avenue in Grand Rapids.
I believe, even with wild short-term fluctuations, that we are experiencing gas price creep. Slowly the average price per gallon has creeped up a few cents a week. I won't be surprise if prices fail to drop below $2.50 any time soon and instead creep past $3.
What do you think?
Two semi's on tangled on US-131 southbound around 12:30 p.m. Thursday and had traffic backed up to I-96 for quite a while, and there was no escape.
This is what it was ...

In broadcasting, we pretty much have to say this every time we talk about or show something like this video. Because people think broadcasters are supposed to be your mother.
Kids, don't try this at home.

In this video from a country where they don't speak English, one driver forgot the basic concept of the roundabout, as in ... you go AROUND.
I have no details on this. Maybe the driver was drunk.
