Did you get caught in the monumental traffic jam on northbound US-131 south of downtown Grand Rapids?
Around 7:30 a.m., two cars crashed in the left lane against the wall just south of Franklin Street. Several drivers stopped to help, and medical help was on the scene in minutes. Grand Rapids fire units arrived and blocked the left two lanes for safety. Grand Rapids police and Michigan State Police also arrived. Indications were that what injuries there may have been were minor, but one vehicle had to be pried open to get someone out.
While this was happening, traffic was backing up to 54th Street and remained at a standstill until the crash was cleared at 8:25 a.m. Naturally, a lot of drivers bailed and tried surface streets such as Division Avenue and Clyde Park Avenue. I had no reports on how conditions were on those and other streets, but it probably wasn't fun.FOX 17 Home
