OK, golfers, I need your input. Occasionally, over the last two years, I've been engaged in a friendly debate with a news manager here at FOX 17 over my Golf Forecast.
He tends to feel that I rate the forecast too highly on my (purely subjective) scoring scale as seen above with today's forecast.
Here's part of the note I got at 6:19 this morning:
"Eagle?
Your "personal golf tastes" are ignoring the impact of the wind (9-18 mph) and the impact that temperatures below 80 have on ball flight distance. You're also ignoring the impact that sub-80 degree temps have on an old man's back. I just can't get loose!
Birdie seems more realistic."
I guess I must have either lower expectations for golf weather, or being a "young man" (or just a hacker) makes me less sensitive to the conditions.
My system is far from scientific, but I'm open to input from other golfers. What do you think? Is today a birdie or an eagle? If there's a feeling one way or the other, I'll shift my scale a bit.
Of course, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really impact the actual weather... but on a pleasant day, I thought I could open it up for discussion.
I won't make you sign in to comment -- you can send them straight to me.
Have a good one (and happy golfing)!
