Atlantic hurricane season starts officially on June 1st, but the first system of the season is already in the Atlantic. At the time I'm writing this (3:30 AM Friday), there's just a narrow window for the storm to strengthen enough to receive the name of "Ana" as the first tropical storm of the year in the Atlantic basin. Regardless, the storm is expected to have essentially no impact on land as it moves out to sea.
